Ultherapy is a non-invasive treatment for skin tightening. It is the only non-invasive procedure cleared by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for lifting the skin on the chin, neck and other parts of the body. It relies on the use of intense and high-focused ultrasound energy. The process is such that the skin is tight and lifted gently by heating the tissue and stimulating the body’s collagen-building process.
Contrary to popular opinion, ultherapy does not duplicate the results of a facelift, rather it is a great tool to postpone surgery for many years without adverse effects. In other to have a successful ultherapy, experts have found out that the patients’ age is not the deciding factor. It is rather the elasticity of the skin and a lack of deep sun damage.

What Happens During Ultherapy Treatment?
Depending on the part of the body that is to be treated, a session can take up to 90 minutes. The ultrasound-conductive gel is applied to the part of the skin that is to be treated. The doctor then delivers the ultrasound energy by moving a handheld transducer across the skin’s surface. Due to ultherapy’s customizable treatment. The energy can enter the skin at the right depth and this helps to boost the collagen production.
Is Ultherapy Safe?
Ultherapy is the only non-invasive treatment that has been cleared by the FDA. Having been cleared since 2009, there has been no record of ties with cancer or thyroid. So, it is right to say that ultherapy is a safe procedure.
However, like any other cleared treatment, ultherapy comes with its own risks and side effects. There have been very rare cases of burn, nerve weakness and numbness. There were also cases of erosion, blisters, inflammation and swelling and these shows that, despite its safe treatment environment, complications can arise.
It is also been found that ultherapy dissolves dermal fillers, although this is not confirmed. Meanwhile, it is important for patients to inform their doctors of any filler injections they have done in the past before ultherapy is conducted.
